Alagumgube calls for upgrade of Bolgatanga Municipality to Metropolitan Assembly, creation of Bolgatanga West Constituency

The founder of Alagumgube, Gabriel Agambila, has called for the upgrade of the Bolgatanga Municipality into a Metropolitan Assembly and the creation of the proposed Bolgatanga West Constituency to promote effective governance and accelerate development in the Upper East Region.

Mr. Agambila believes the growing population, expanding urbanisation and increasing economic activities within Bolgatanga require a stronger administrative structure capable of addressing the needs of residents and supporting sustainable development.

According to him, granting Bolgatanga Metropolitan status would enhance development planning, improve service delivery and position the regional capital to attract more investments.

He further advocated for the creation of the Bolgatanga West Constituency, arguing that the move would provide residents with stronger political representation and ensure that more communities benefit from national development initiatives.

The Alagumgube founder has in recent times championed several development advocacy efforts in the Upper East Region, including calls for improved infrastructure, inclusion in national projects and greater attention to the region’s developmental needs.

Mr. Agambila said the proposed administrative changes would contribute significantly to the growth and transformation of Bolgatanga and the wider Upper East Region.
